Cable Car Music- sound installation, project since 1987Cable Car Music is a sound installation designed and constructed by Rolf Langebartels in 1987 and further more developed since then. It is based on live electronically processed electro acoustic feedback and makes use of self built loudspeakers moving on cables in space. For any concert space Rolf Langebartels sets up a specific installation of Cable Car Music. One or more steel cables are stretched out in space, fixed to the walls or other architectural elements. The vibrations of the cables are picked up by contact microphones and fed back via an amplifier to object loudspeakers of own construction. These loudspeakers move on small wheels along the cables and vibrate the cables themselves. |
